The Veterinary Council is committed to making our website and services accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020 and to making our content available to the widest possible audience, including those who use assistive technologies.
Measures to support accessibility
The Veterinary Council takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our website www.vci.ie:
- We are reviewing and updating our website services throughout 2023 and will strive to continually deliver a high standard of accessibility.
- Include accessibility in our internal policies
- Continue to use plain English and accessible language in our communications and publications.
- Publish HTML webpages as standard, reducing the use of printed materials and PDFs as much as possible. If PDFs do need to be used, we will ensure that they have a high standard of accessibility.
- In reviewing our website design and navigation paths, we will ensure that our website meets colour contrast requirements for users with low vision, all information maps are accessible to those using screen readers and navigation of the website is assessable to users of assistive technology.
If any of our content is not easily and readily accessible, please contact us directly at our offices 53 Lansdowne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, where our Access Officer, Luke Lyons will be pleased to assist you (01-6688402 / info@vci.ie).

VCI Access Officer
The core role of an Access Officer is to provide or coordinate assistance and guidance for persons with disabilities so they can access the services and information provided by a public body. This role is required by law.
The definition of the ‘persons with disabilities’ that Access Officers are to help is also listed in the Disability Act. This means people who have a substantial restriction in their ability to work or participate in social life as a result of an enduring physical, sensory, mental health or intellectual impairment.
We acknowledge that the VCI Offices at 53 Lansdowne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, being a period building over 3 floors is not fully accessible to all persons in its design. The VCI are examining the potential for additional routes of access and entry to the building which may progress to building works in the years ahead, subject to planning permission. In the interim, our Access Officer is available to assist any person with disabilities to access our services.
